My Growth - A Sales Career That Doesn’t Fit in One Time Zone - Jacob Dawson, Senior Account Executive

Hi! I’m Jacob

I’m based in Austin, Texas (born and raised 🤠) and I’ve been working in b2b SaaS sales since starting my first ever “corporate” role as a Sales Development Representative in 2019! I have a deep passion for solution based sales and love nothing more than transforming huge client headaches and broken processes into case-study worthy success stories. At Tidio, I work with the Enterprise and Mid-Market segment to deploy deeply integrated customer facing AI Agents across functions like Sales, Support, and Retention.

What does "Grow with Tidio" mean to you?

What’s special about “Grow with Tidio” is that it means just as much to my professional career as it does to my personal life. Not only have I significantly evolved my ability to close complex multi-month long deals (increasing ACV by over 400%), I’ve also unlocked a lifestyle & global network that I couldn’t have imagined in my deepest Texan dreams.

Tidio’s remote first culture allows me to regularly split my time between three different continents. My role has also allowed me to create lifelong connections with colleagues from the United Kingdom, Spain, France, Poland, Lithuania, Ukraine, Argentina, Colombia, and Brazil!

What is your favorite part of your role?

My favorite part of my role at Tidio is without a doubt the global team I get to work with and the global clients we get to sell to. I’ve learned just as much about global business in the past two years as I have about technology, AI, and CX Operations.

How would you describe Tidio to your best friend?

Tidio is a group of nearly 200 mega nerds who build customer facing AI Agents that consistently run circles around those built by billion dollar competitors.

Tidio’s Enterprise and Premium offerings are like buying the custom spec’d Porsche 911 of AI agents.

Any tips for someone looking to get into a career like yours?

If you know you want to sell software, don’t get a degree in business get a degree in computer science or another IT related study. Too many sales people don’t have the technical knowledge to back themselves up and I don’t think that’s going to continue to fly in the future.

My second piece of advice might be super biased but I would say working for start-ups and smaller/younger companies is going to expose you to far more character & career building opportunities than if you start your career by joining a giant sales org.

What are your hobbies? What do you love to do after work?

My all time favorite hobbies are hiking and camping.. best when combined haha. Plus if it wasn’t obvious already, I also like to travel!

Most of my travels involve the outdoors and you can just about guarantee that I’m bringing my tent and backpacking gear everywhere I go.
